Summer Style- From Polyvore to Real Life #11

Eek gads.  Sometimes there are just days when you don’t take a good picture.  In this outfit, I was headed to a matinee with my kids.  It seems that summer is still struggling with an identity crisis of late and I have to dress for any weather, any time.  So while I thought it would be warm enough for shorts, I also added a blazer just in case the movie theatre was subzero.
Summer take note, you have my permission to officially warm up now.  Thanks.

Graduation Weekend

I thought I’d get this out there a little early in case many of you need to be thinking of what to wear this weekend.
Graduation weekends can be a marathon.  Especially for the family of the graduate.
For travel day, wear something trendy with a fun pair of colored jeans.  Throw on a “look-at-me” pair of shoes and you’ll be set for a long car ride.
When you get there, who knows what all the activities might be- camp fires, helping set up, preparing food, watching kids- having family time.  Wear something that will be very comfortable and versatile.  A maxi skirt and a chambray shirt will help you transition from each task.
And finally for the big ceremony, wear something lightweight with a preppy feel.  You could be sitting for hours, in the hot sun, waiting for your family’s name to be called.  Now is not the time for stiff and weighty fabrics.  Should the weather change, pack a cardigan and coat.
Congratulations to all the graduates!  Hopefully your future is as promising as these outfits.  🙂

Children’s Program

The kids have learned their lines, the costumes have been tried on and songs rehearsed.  All that is left is for the audience to come and hear the Christmas story proclaimed, the baby Jesus born to save all of humanity from their sin.
After such tragic news out of Connecticut yesterday, cherish the simplicity and innocence of a children’s program, whenever you get a chance this holiday season.
And remember in your prayers those who will be missing their little ones.

Tree Pickin

For the rest of the month, I’m using last year’s themes (before I knew about Polyvore and Pinterest) and creating new outfits for all the activities you and I may have this December.  I may make this an annual tradition.  Because this month is a doozy and anything that makes life simpler is a good thing!
