Holiday Tour 2016

I didn’t go all out this year.  And to be honest, most of my house has been taken over by gift bags and packages and I feel fairly drowning in Christmas.

But I did snap a few photos of a few little nooks that make our house feel festive.  This year’s theme was gold and silver, neutral and blue.

Enjoy!

Fyi, every tree had a light mishap. They all kept going out long after the tree was decorated. I just gave up after awhile!

Holiday Looks- Red Sweaterdress

It might be my favorite time of year, at least my favorite time to be a blogger. I love helping people get ready for their holiday functions because there are so many!

For the next few weeks, I’ll do my best to give you two different outfit options on things you may have in your closet – because they are in mine!  I’ll try to cover all of your holiday activities- work parties, programs, church services, shopping, even volunteering!

Here is the first look in this series-

Holiday Looks- Red Sweaterdress

Here is a little red sweaterdress I have in my closet.  You may not have red, but I bet you have a sweaterdress.  I wore this dress for both volunteering during the day and to a dress down work party at night- in a snowstorm.

I wore the same tall boots for both, I swapped out the plain black leggings from the day for velvet leggings for the party.  And instead of just a watch for day, I added some fun bangles for night.

It was a warm and cozy look!

Christmas Tour, Kitchen & Dining Room

Today are the last few rooms of the house I decorated for Christmas, the kitchen and the dining room.

Here’s the hutch that sits in my kitchen, full of reindeer-

I kept it pretty simple this year in the kitchen.  Just a strand of lighted garland and some letters I hung on my kitchen window screen-

I usually take down all of the flowers in my house and try to replace them with some greenery or Christmasy flowers.

Tomorrow, it’s is my last day of the tour and I’ll show you my red and white tree!

Two more days of pictures!  Whose Christmas house tour has been your favorite to view this holiday season?

Christmas Tour, Front Porch Inspiration

Hi there!  We’re just over the moon here with the addition of our little boy.  And I’ll be spending some serious snuggle time with him the next few weeks.  But I did want to finish my holiday home tour.  So a few more pictures of what’s going on here at home for you to enjoy!

Here’s some of the decorating I’ve done at our entrance.

I know I shouldn’t be saying this, but I’m hoping for snow for Christmas.  I’m not a big fan of a green Christmas.  How about you?

Christmas Tour, The Mantel

Before I show you all my fireplace mantel, I better finish the entry and my piano.

Here’s the staircase-

Christmas Tour Continues

Welcome back to my living room!  Here is my beachy white hutch all decked out for the holidays in a red and white candy theme.

This is also where I put my snow globe collection…

Christmas Tour

No baby yet.  And the only thing keeping me from going mad is decorating for Christmas. Remember my theme this year was red and white in a minimalist sort of way.  Well, for me that meant only putting up one tree and leaving about nine totes of Christmas stuff in the attic this year.  A lesson in restraint!

So while we count down the days until this baby decides to make an appearance, I’ll entertain you with pictures of my holiday fun.

Here are a few from today-

Welcome!

Ya, okay, I have a few cord issues I need to work out.  But this is a quick shot of our mantel in our bedroom.  I need to make one more stocking!

These baskets help camouflage my thermostat.  Most of the time it is covered up with artwork.  But I think it blends in well with my other white pieces.

And that’s a start.  More tomorrow!

Is It Too Early?

I know it isn’t even Thanksgiving yet.  And this year, like most years, I have exceptions to consider, but I’m wondering… is it too early to decorate for Christmas?

Usually if I don’t have my tree up by now, I don’t have much time to enjoy it.  But this year, we’ll have more time to celebrate Christmas.  And I don’t know how much time/energy I’ll have to decorate after baby.  Here is the dilimma.

I have already taken down all of my fall stuff.  As it has snowed already, I don’t think it is inappropriate to put up Christmas stuff outside.  We may never get another opportunity!!

But I’m struggling with indoors.  So many of you have a head start and I get it.  We pretty much dismantle our homes for one season and enjoying it for less than a month doesn’t seem fair!

I think I can manage to hold out until this weekend.  And then it’s on.  This year’s theme, red and white in a hopefully very minimalist kind of way.  Here is a picture from a fellow blogger, Jennifer over at Celebratingeverydaylife.com, of a porch that I am coveting.  Don’t you just LOVE it?!

Just in Time for Epiphany

Is it just me or did the holidays really kick anyone else’s b*tt this year?  I can’t say mine were all that enjoyable.  I spent most of it sick.  And for me, it wasn’t your normal, I can be sick and still be human.  I felt SICK.

I’m pretty happy to be back to normal.  Hopefully we can avoid getting another round of yuckiness for a couple of days.

Meanwhile, I owe a few pictures of trees.  And I realized that I never did post a picture of tree I did for my community’s festival of trees.

So one last holiday hurrah, here come the three trees, just like the three kings!  Just in time for Epiphany!
