Holiday Looks- Red Sweaterdress

It might be my favorite time of year, at least my favorite time to be a blogger. I love helping people get ready for their holiday functions because there are so many!

For the next few weeks, I’ll do my best to give you two different outfit options on things you may have in your closet – because they are in mine!  I’ll try to cover all of your holiday activities- work parties, programs, church services, shopping, even volunteering!

Here is the first look in this series-

Holiday Looks- Red Sweaterdress

Here is a little red sweaterdress I have in my closet.  You may not have red, but I bet you have a sweaterdress.  I wore this dress for both volunteering during the day and to a dress down work party at night- in a snowstorm.

I wore the same tall boots for both, I swapped out the plain black leggings from the day for velvet leggings for the party.  And instead of just a watch for day, I added some fun bangles for night.

It was a warm and cozy look!

Opening Gifts

Every creature is stirring for opening gifts!  Santa’s been here and the little ones can hardly contain themselves!  It’s Christmas Day!

Wear an easy outfit of pants but with lots of shine!  The brocade screams holiday and a shimmery sweater to go with will keep you toasty.  Take it easy in flats but don’t forget a few beautiful pieces of jewelry.

Maybe they’ll match something under the tree with your name on it.  IF you made the nice list!

His Work Party

Here’s an outfit I threw together for the Mr.’s work party when the invite said business casual.  I wanted to be dressed up but not too “holiday.”  A cocktail dress just wasn’t quite it.
So I stepped it up a notch with dressy separates.  I went with a flouncy skirt and heels but paired them with a conservative blouse with a fun bow detail.
And I was glad I did wear something a bit more dressy than business casual.  It is always better to err on too dressy than underdressed during the holidays.  Remember, dressing up is a sign of politeness. His Work Party

Holiday Hostess

I lived through the weekend!   I’m so sorry that I missed posting. Too many holiday parties!  But I’m back now!
When hosting a holiday party, the last thing you might have time to think about is what to wear. Decorating, cleaning and food take top priority.  But with this simple outfit, you can put the pieces together at the last minute and still be ready for the festivities!
The key to an easy last minute look- monochromatic.  With all black pieces, you really can’t go wrong.  It’s the LBD of outfits.  Just remember to keep the pieces textured and/or shiny to keep the look from being too boring.
Time to make pigs in a blanket!  Happy hosting!Holiday Hostess

Town Festival

Whatever your town is doing for its Christmas celebration, if you live where there is cold weather, you want to be bundled up!
Start with a great sweater that will be stylish when you may have to duck indoors and take your coat off.  Add on some white jeans- completely appropriate for either summer or winter.
Don’t forget a warm coat, easy to wear but also stylish boots, and your hat and mittens!
The only thing missing…a warm cup of hot chocolate to keep you toasty!Town Festival

Chili Party

It is cold outside baby!  Nothing will warm you up faster than a chili party!
What to wear?  A beautiful cashmere sweater and some festive cords.  Layer on a scarf, flats and fun necklace in equally fun colors so you will be merry and bright!
