I’m a little sad to see my fall fashion challenge end. It was a ton of fun! I hope it inspired you to think outside the box for your daily ware. What’s up next? How about another round of house updates!?!

Ta-da! We made it to day thirty! Today’s look is about dressing for success and I thought it was an appropriate theme to wear to my children’s parent/teacher conferences.
So I stepped it up a notch from what I would even typically wear and created a “suit” with a few pieces I had in my closet. My only real suit is black and is on reserve since I stay at home. It occasionally sees the light of day but it seemed a little too much for school.

Casual dressers, this is for you! Blazers may seem stuffy, corporate and something to be avoided at all costs. This is completely false! Blazers can be as easy as a scarf, as comfortable as a sweater and as sneaky as a corset. The trick is to not over think them.
Case in point, here I am in a blazer and a t-shirt and jeans. The hardest part about putting this outfit together was the coloring.
Bonus material, blazers will almost always make you appear slimmer than you really are! Don’t shy away! Embrace the blazer and be a trail blazer!

We officially had our first snowfall of the season and while it was beautiful, if winter starts this early, I am in big trouble. Last year it lasted until May! No can do.
The family took advantage of the weather by cozying up to the fire, under blankets and napping. Okay, maybe it was only a few members of the family but it was still so peaceful.
Here I am all rested up and headed out to pick up kids from school-

What’s more classic than navy and white. Oh, and a trench coat? What makes the trenchcoat a classic?
The trenchcoat is the glamour of Hollywood wrapped up in a accessibility of everyday life.
This coat has seen Rick and Ilsa in Casablanca go their tortured ways, Holly and Paul protect “Cat” from the rain in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Joanna Kramer waving goodbye to her son in Kramer vs. Kramer and Lloyd Dobler playing the boombox to his only love Diane Court in Say Anything. That’s decades of tortured and twisted humanity right there. And you can bet if it was popular when your grandma fell in love with those movies, it’s a classic.

Headband (brooch, my grandmothers) & Earrings- Target
This color has been on the radar for a number of years. I blame the movie The Devil Wears Prada. The scene where Anne Hathaway smirks about choosing a belt and Meryl Streep shreds her to pieces starting with the color of her sweater…which so happens to be cobalt.
It is still going strong. And speaking of strong, you can never be a shrinking violet in this color. It commands attention. When I wore it, I felt like giving it a vintage twist. I paired it with a flouncy skirt that had just as much color. And then put on my pumps, added a patient leather belt and the black accents just popped!

I can’t believe we have only five more days! Where did those 30 days go?
I love pairing red with unexpected colors instead of boring and dated red and black. I like bright red and fuchsia, for example. And I also like this tomato red with blush. It feels a little strange putting it together but luckily I had a subtle print in this shirt that picked up the color.
Jacket- xhileration (Target)
Top- Old Navy

I definitely don’t have any Chanel stowed away in my closet. But I put on my best pearl necklace and channeled Chanel anyway in my “designer” duds. Girls, this is as label conscious as I get. If it fits and I like it, who cares who made it? And if you bought it at a steal, that only makes you smarter than the girl who wears Prada from head to toe.
Sweater- Ann Taylor
Jeans- Joe’s Jeans
Necklace & Bracelet- Premiere

No I’m not in all “green” clothes but I am in the color!
I love wearing green but I do not love my hair in this photo. Esh. Not sure what was happening here. This outfit was so easy to wear. Nothing complicated, anyone can do this look. (Just don’t take a bad picture in it like I did.) It’s simply a jeans + tshirt, add on a jacket. You’ve got this!
Jeans- 7 for All Mankind
Jacket- Ann Taylor

Here I am going off about how I don’t like to wear black and my last three posts are in what else? Black. Just the pot calling the kettle…
This was one of the first really chilly days of fall and I was a little excited to wear a few layers. I normally get pretty warm, so I don’t wear sweaters much. But this year I think I’m going to try wearing them as outerwear more. At least when there is only a chill in the air.
And as for the black, let’s hope I can find inspiration in some other colors…
