Summer Style- From Polyvore to Real Life #27

Once upon a time a mom had to attend a t-ball game in the midst of summer humidity.  Did she throw on workout shorts and an oversized t-shirt?  No!  She fought the ugly weather with a fun hat and some bright shoes.  The result, the mom was happy, the rest of the night after.

Pat Down

You did it.  You took the plunge and you bought a pair of patterned shorts.  And you got them home and you said, “What was I thinking?  What do I wear these with?  I can’t pull this look off!”  Oh yes you can.  Don’t fear the pattern bottoms.  Trust me, this is just a little preview of where pants are going to wind up this fall.  You can wear these pants.  So put aside those little comments that you imagine people saying and wear what you like!  Because life’s too short for only solids.
For starters, keep your tops simple.  If you happen to find one that has a coordinating pattern, you’ve scored!  But if not, don’t stress.  Keep them neutral and you can’t go wrong.
And on a side note, who wouldn’t want those hair ties.  Must buy immediately.
You’ve got these patterned shorts down!

European Vacation

Instead of thinking of the movie starring Chevy Chase, let’s dream about being in a romantic city soaking up some amazing architecture and sipping a glass of good wine at dinnertime.
If you are lucky enough to take a dream vacation to Europe, I’ll try not to be jealous and instead help you pack.  Be sure to include the following:  a scarf, it’ll add dimension to your outfits without adding bulk to your carry on; two pairs of walking shoes because you’ll be siteseeing everywhere; and something demure to wear for your evenings.  Regardless of what you wear, they will know you are American.  So show them how well an American woman can dress while vacationing!

Becoming One With Nature

If your travel plans are to build a fire, take a hike and apply bug spray, then you’ll need some camping clothes.
Here’s the plan- take layers so that you won’t cook during the day and shiver at night.  Keep your accessories minimal and pack some comfy shoes along with some stylish hikers.  And this may be the only instance where I would recommend a backpack.
Happy Trails!

Little League Livery

Wow, busy days full of activities leave this girl wiped out. And that’s okay. I’d rather fall into bed and hit the pillow sleeping than have trouble getting to sleep because nothing happened at all that day.
Along with many of you, it is time for t-ball! And this year, I’m getting a double dose. While it may be one of those activities where it is okay for you to show up in gym gear, unless you are the coach, I still recommend stepping up the dress code at least one notch.
Here is a collection of outfit ideas for the ball diamond, simply for inspiration-
