Here is my Christmas Eve headed to church look. I say this often, but I will say it again, if you have nice clothes in your closet waiting to be worn…what are you waiting for Christmas?
Break out your finery for the holiday. Your closet shouldn’t be the only one that gets to see them.

It might be my favorite time of year, at least my favorite time to be a blogger. I love helping people get ready for their holiday functions because there are so many!
For the next few weeks, I’ll do my best to give you two different outfit options on things you may have in your closet – because they are in mine! I’ll try to cover all of your holiday activities- work parties, programs, church services, shopping, even volunteering!
Here is the first look in this series-
Here is a little red sweaterdress I have in my closet. You may not have red, but I bet you have a sweaterdress. I wore this dress for both volunteering during the day and to a dress down work party at night- in a snowstorm.
I wore the same tall boots for both, I swapped out the plain black leggings from the day for velvet leggings for the party. And instead of just a watch for day, I added some fun bangles for night.
It was a warm and cozy look!
The off the shoulder or cold shoulder look isn’t going anywhere. Which is good news for those of us with some in the closet. And these lace up flats are EVERYWHERE! Cute and functional.
I hope there was a look for you in this transitional collection!

“I might even take a wild, boyish fling at writing,” says Paul Varjak from Breakfast at Tiffanys. (If you haven’t seen that movie, put it on your must watch list for old movie night.)
I realize my productivity with this blog has lapsed but I think things are starting to come round! I had a teething baby to wean and so many a day I’ve spent rocking a crabby baby. I know I’ll miss those days all too soon!
Now I’m seeing the light at the tunnel though, probably just in time for the kids to get out of school and create a whole new set of challenges. Meanwhile, let’s think about spring. My kiddos have been out of school for break this week and it has me thinking about new spring fashion trends!
Here’s day one-
Spring Forward 2016
The theme for my looks this week is definitely going to have a Bohemian influence because that look is everywhere! And I love it.
I cannot believe I’m saying this but guess what’s big for spring…chokers. Yes, it is 1992 and you’re pairing them with your bodysuit. Wha???? Yes chokers. You can blame this fashion trend from the boho look that is sweeping through stores and my closet. While I will be a part of this trend, I will reserve wearing my choker for junking trips and nights out dancing. I probably won’t be sporting it on the playground. But kudos to you if you do!
A few other trends in this look are the flowy wrap blouse, the peeptoe booties, and the round sunglasses (I love those!). Prints are big for spring. So be on the lookout for some new patterned tops when you’re out shopping!
Here’s more info about each piece:
I know you might not think to pack a dress for your Thanksgiving dinner, but let’s talk about the stretch factor. No uncomfortable buttons or snaps to adjust after you’ve eaten too much, just sheer bloated bliss in an elastic and breathable waist. Not to mention, a forgiving silhouette. What’s not to love?
Keep it casual with some simple accessories- some pretty purple earrings to pick up the colors of the dress and a watch to keep track of
just how long you’ll have to endure your relatives. Just kidding. I mean, how much longer you’ll get to enjoy your relatives, the blessings they are.
Spice things up with a pair of cognac boots and boot socks. How I love the color cognac. It’s pretty much a fall staple and you can’t go wrong when you mix it with some tall boots.
Save room for that pumpkin pie!!
Thanksgiving Travel Day
It’s been awhile since I’ve done some actual fashion on the blog, so I’m taking the opportunity this week as many of you are packing for Thanksgiving trips or thinking about what to wear for family gatherings.
As I watch it snow here, I think leggings are perfectly appropriate to wear when you’re traveling, especially in inclement weather. So long as you take care to wear them with a cute sweater and booties and not a hoodie and some ratty old Uggs.
A wrap coat is very trend this winter and it looks so sophisticated. No reason not to travel in style. You will also be seeing these flannel scarves that are really more like small blankets everywhere. I confess I have one already and wear it regularly.
Don’t forget to bring the wine. 😉
I’ve posted many a time about what it means when the invitation says “black tie.” You can read more about that here
What’s the short version? Don’t show up in your cotton daydress. Put on the jewelry that you feel is a little too fancy for work or the playground. DRESS UP. You should feel comfortable in a cocktail dress.
One other thing to keep in mind. Solid color dresses may wind you up in the bridesmaid category. So be weary. Also, NEVER wear a white dress to a wedding. The End. 🙂
