Wedding Week- Casual

It’s wedding season and many of you have weddings coming up to attend.  What to wear? This week, I’ll give you five outfits to wear depending on your wedding destination.
Today’s wedding is casual.  It can be hard to know if the wedding is truly casual, especially when some venues can be either casual or more formal.
Take for example, a beach wedding or a wedding that takes place in a barn.  Either place screams casual, but there have been lots of weddings lately that have taken that venue and made it elegant.  So be weary.
This is what I would pack.  If you’re absolutely certain that you know the family and it is going to be casual.  This is it.  This dress is easy, the sandals will be comfortable and will withstand sand or dirt.  And yet the necklace makes this outfit just a little more fancy.
And if you’re worried that it might not be “nice” enough, pack a pair of heels and wear your hair up.  It’ll still pass!Wedding Week- Casual

Summer Concert Series- Eric Church’s Give Me Back My Hometown

Happy Birthday to me!  I’m here celebrating it with you and a little Eric Church.  Am I the only one who has a little unreasonable crush on him?
Aviators are a must with this theme.  But I really don’t know why he covers up those beautiful brown eyes with sunglasses anyway?  I think a little laid back supermodel look is right in order for Eric Church.  And of course, beer from the bottle.Summer Concert Series- Eric Church

I think this song is really about drugs overtaking smalltowns but I like to put my own spin on it and I love it more that way.  Here’s the video!

Spring Trends 2014- Collarless Jackets

Jackets this spring are big, which makes sense because most of us have been hiding behind a bulky coat all winter.  One of the trends in jackets is a collarless style.

This looks is very sleek and modern.  It reminds me greatly of the Oscar gown Gwyneth Paltrow wore with the cape.  Perhaps this look is a trickle down from that night?

Spring Trends 2014- Collarless Jackets

Anywho, here are a few styles, all worn with heels.  Because I’m kind of missing my heels. Will spring ever arrive?

A collarless jacket is also a great platform for necklaces.  You can either go classic with a chunky short necklace (I’m really envisioning a chain for some reason) or with a longer jacket choose a longer necklace.

Check them out.  They will be a great wardrobe update!

Packable Sandals

Here are some totally packable sandals for all kinds of vacation activities!  Taking a tour?  Wear the Nike’s.  Headed to the beach?  Don the flip-flops.  Clubbing?  Wear the wedges with an ankle strap.  Having a romantic meal?  Think espadrilles.  Boat ride?  The Sperry’s are perfect.  Taking in a tropical sunset?  Look for something sparkly.

The key to vacation footwear?  Don’t think too much about it.  Pack a few pairs for a few activities and relax.   If I were you, I’d be barefoot in the sand anyway.  🙂

His Work Party

Here’s an outfit I threw together for the Mr.’s work party when the invite said business casual.  I wanted to be dressed up but not too “holiday.”  A cocktail dress just wasn’t quite it.
So I stepped it up a notch with dressy separates.  I went with a flouncy skirt and heels but paired them with a conservative blouse with a fun bow detail.
And I was glad I did wear something a bit more dressy than business casual.  It is always better to err on too dressy than underdressed during the holidays.  Remember, dressing up is a sign of politeness. His Work Party

Thanksgiving Break- Patterned Corduroys

Packing for Thanksgiving?  I’ve got you covered.  Take one pair of pants and I’ll give you three different looks to choose from to make any occasion your trip might throw at you easy to navigate from your suitcase.
The first look- patterned corduroys.  Don’t let these comfy little numbers scare you- there are many ways to wear them!  Find a tshirt with a little pattern to match or just a sweater in the same color family and you have two easy outfits.  Want to dress them up?  Wear a pretty little top with cardigan in a neutral.
These pants would be perfect for a family get-together, a movie run or maybe even Black Friday shopping!
