Here is a look that I have worn from church to a work Christmas party and also may be a great option for New Year’s Eve.
This time of year, I love velvet and these cute little ankle pants from Old Navy won’t break the budget, but pack lots of style.
Pair them with something equal to the richess of the velvet- a satin top or a sequin blouse. Add a statement necklace that brings in color and some sparkly heels.
Ready for whatever!

It’s work party season! And that means deciphering invitations. For more information on what exactly the differences are in wording on dress code, read this post here
When the wording says “cocktail,” you’ll need a fancy dress. It isn’t “formal” but it should be a step up from something you’d wear to work.
You basically have four options which I’ve given examples of below.
1) Red- it stands alone from the color category because it is a stand out. Remember the song?
2) Black, white or a combo- a classic and always a safe bet
3) Metallics or neutrals- very flattering and will put you in the holiday spirit
4) A bright color- definitely an attention grabber but also very festive!
I hope this helps you know what kind of dress to buy or pull from your closet when preparing for those seeming ambiguous work parties!
Packing for Thanksgiving? I’ve got you covered. Take one pair of pants and I’ll give you three different looks to choose from to make any occasion your trip might throw at you easy to navigate from your suitcase.
The first look- patterned corduroys. Don’t let these comfy little numbers scare you- there are many ways to wear them! Find a tshirt with a little pattern to match or just a sweater in the same color family and you have two easy outfits. Want to dress them up? Wear a pretty little top with cardigan in a neutral.
These pants would be perfect for a family get-together, a movie run or maybe even Black Friday shopping!
