This is a look I wore both caroling and traveling. I love these sherpa vests. They add so much pow to otherwise plain jane outfits.
Who says you can wear too many buffalo prints? If you need to be warmer, layer the look with a jacket underneath the vest.
Tomorrow are my Christmas Eve look ideas and on Christmas Day, I will give you our holiday house tour.
Hope you stop by!

My family decided to celebrate our 10 year anniversary with a Disney vacation. We have never been to Disney. And I’m trying to imagine how I’ll pack. It isn’t easy as the weather could be cool and rainy or hot and sunny! Not to mention we’ll be traveling through all different climates just to get there.
In my effort to pack for kid friendly activities, I’m breaking all of my own fashion rules!
Here are five of my own fashion faux pas!
1) Leggings, leggings, leggings
Mainly I will taking leggings because I figure I can be comfortable in them hot or cold. And lots of layers- sweatshirts, t-shirts and outfits that I would only wear when running around after kids in a theme park.
I’m basing my outfits on what shirts I have that are tunic length. Let’s be honest, not too many of us moms should really ever have our backside showing in leggings. Unless you are very, very confident…
2) A backpack
I will take a backpack to the park. But I just can’t quite sport one of my kids. This fun little boho backpack outta do the trick.
3) Mainly solid tees in a loose color family
I don’t anticipate many prints being packed while will make for some lackluster outfits. This and being constrained to tunic length tees is leaving me with a loose color family. But this is one destination that I feel I can make some exceptions.
4) Sneakers and flip-flops
I will also wear mainly slip on tennies and flip-flops, something I wouldn’t do at home. But I know we’ll be walking a ton and I need these feet to be comfortable!
5) Very little accessories
And for my accessories, earrings are about the extent of what I will pack. They are so small and hardly take up any room!
A few things that I couldn’t leave at home that might redeem an outfit- a scarf, a necklace and don’t forget the shades!
Next week, I’ll try to redeem myself by showing the different outfits one can create from this simple packing list!
It’s time for a little fall fashion! I’ve prolonged it as much as I possibly could as I’m busy working away on house projects. But I’ll save those for next week.
I could give you the lowdown on the runway trends. But I get bored with those easily. They are predictable (surprise, surprise, some shade of purple and animal prints are trends) and come around every fall. And the rest typically don’t trickle down to us regular folk. Why bother.
So get ready for my cooler weather looks! You’ll find these trends surprising. Starting with today’s. Fall trend #1…ripped jeans. Sure, a little distressing has been around here and there but these are full on ripped. Like Alan Jackson 1992. I have even seen some of the jeans advertised as “mom jeans.” They are high-waisted, light or acid washed and holey. There is just part of me that can’t go there. But a smallishness of distressing… okay. Keep in mind if you are wearing said mom jeans on purpose, you better be under 30. The rest of us are still trying to avoid looking like a candidate on What Not to Wear.
How to wear ripped jeans:
1) Keep in mind that pairing with flannel and combat boots are going to be reminiscent of the 90s. I prefer to keep the look more modern with an oversized cardigan and trusty white Converse.
2) Don’t pair this with too much skin on top. Unless you are a teenage rock star.
3) Structured looks are by far my favorite. So if you’re dressing up in a blazer and breaking out the heels anyway, these jeans will keep you from looking stuffy.
In your mom jeans. 😉
(FYI- red is a big color for fall. It hasn’t been around lately and I’m finding it refreshing.)
Gotta get up early for sunrise service? Yup, I do too. So have your things ready tonight!
Wear a floral dress with a comfy cover up (it could still be chilly at this hour) and add-on some stylish accessories- an adorable bag, a necklace that toughens up the dress and some fabulous shoes!
