Thanksgiving Travel Day- I’ll Bring the Wine

Thanksgiving Travel Day

Thanksgiving Travel Day

It’s been awhile since I’ve done some actual fashion on the blog, so I’m taking the opportunity this week as many of you are packing for Thanksgiving trips or thinking about what to wear for family gatherings.

As I watch it snow here, I think leggings are perfectly appropriate to wear when you’re traveling, especially in inclement weather.  So long as you take care to wear them with a cute sweater and booties and not a hoodie and some ratty old Uggs.

A wrap coat is very trend this winter and it looks so sophisticated.  No reason not to travel in style.  You will also be seeing these flannel scarves that are really more like small blankets everywhere.  I confess I have one already and wear it regularly.

Don’t forget to bring the wine.  😉

Accessorizing Your Dress

Accessorizing Your Dress

It’s time to talk accessories!  This might be my favorite part!

I found three dresses that have similar elements of my own dress and accessorized them.  I kept the accessories the same (earrings, bracelet, clutch and shoes) so that you can focus on the difference they make between looks.  Don’t forget that your hair is an accessory too!  And probably your most important one!

The first look has a sophisticated hairstyle because the dress is very simple.  I chose simple jewelry that feels very regal.  Nothing too showy but also still fancy.

The second look is more of a Grecian inspired look.  I chose the longer earrings with the longer hair, a simpler shoe to peek out the bottom of the dress and a deco looking clutch.

The last look has a sweeter feel.  Because of the rhinestones on the dress, I put the more romantic inspired hairstyle with it.  I also added the all over sparkle shoes and clutch but kept the accessories simple.

Three different looks with very similar dresses.  I hope you have fun with your accessories!

New Year’s Eve outfits

I’m back!  And I’m realizing that my two other Christmas trees never posted.  Guess you’ll be seeing those this week.

As promised, here are a few NYE outfit ideas.  In case you are braving the cold and going to a grown up party, wear separates but still feel all dressed up.  If you’re dining with friends, wear something to liven up the party.  Don’t have a babysitter?  Ring in the new year with your loved ones and wear some leggings and slippers.  Cardigan, optional.

Whatever you do this New Year’s Eve, please be safe.

Holiday Hostess

I lived through the weekend!   I’m so sorry that I missed posting. Too many holiday parties!  But I’m back now!
When hosting a holiday party, the last thing you might have time to think about is what to wear. Decorating, cleaning and food take top priority.  But with this simple outfit, you can put the pieces together at the last minute and still be ready for the festivities!
The key to an easy last minute look- monochromatic.  With all black pieces, you really can’t go wrong.  It’s the LBD of outfits.  Just remember to keep the pieces textured and/or shiny to keep the look from being too boring.
Time to make pigs in a blanket!  Happy hosting!Holiday Hostess

Work Party- Cocktail Invite

It’s work party season!  And that means deciphering invitations.  For more information on what exactly the differences are in wording on dress code, read this post here.
When the wording says “cocktail,” you’ll need a fancy dress.  It isn’t “formal” but it should be a step up from something you’d wear to work.
You basically have four options which I’ve given examples of below.
1) Red- it stands alone from the color category because it is a stand out.  Remember the song?
2)  Black, white or a combo- a classic and always a safe bet
3) Metallics or neutrals- very flattering and will put you in the holiday spirit
4) A bright color- definitely an attention grabber but also very festive!
I hope this helps you know what kind of dress to buy or pull from your closet when preparing for those seeming ambiguous work parties!Work Party- Cocktail Invite
