School Spirit Track Meet

Rest assured, just when the temperatures are on the rise, you’ll find yourself sitting on metal bleachers cheering on your miniature Olympian. What can you wear to be supportive and fun, all while not melting?
Here’s what I would choose-
The first outfit might not be the exact team colors, but it’s a light color to keep you cool. And a great hat comes in very handy!
The second outfit has some fun boho shorts and some fringe (and non-yawnworthy) sandals. Instead of full on gear, choose a team necklace and tote chock full of water and an umbrella for the sun.
I hope I gave you some summer spirit outfit ideas. I will be doing this again in the fall/winter. Don’t be afraid to break out of the athletic gear and into something with some personality!

Travel Day

Travel Day

Pretty soon it will be Memorial Day weekend.  It may not seem like it since the temperatures don’t want to warm up, but that is the official kick off to summer!

I couldn’t be more excited!  I may throw my alarm clock out the window soon.  The kids are telling me its time.  It’s time to be out late at night playing until dark and sleeping in.  It’s time to be through with the schedule.

If you have travel plans for the big weekend, I’ll help you pack.  Send me a question and I’ll feature it on the blog.

Here is a great travel outfit.  It could not be simpler.  Did you know that wearing heels during a long car ride is a great idea?  As long as you’re not hauling heavy luggage anywhere once you arrive, you’ll be off your feet for an extended amount of time.  Might as well take advantage of that!

This outfit is a basic jeans and tank look.  What makes the outfit is the kimono top.  This is a huge trend for summer and you’re going to see it everywhere.  Mainly they’ll be worn with short-shorts or crop tops but I’m pretty sure I’m opting out of those categories.  You’ll be channeling your inner boho and be looking great in this easy piece.   These are especially great for those of us that don’t really want to show much skin or are insecure about how our arms look.  Look for one that has a little bit of length to it.   I especially like them when you can see your waist, so tuck that tank top in!

Now you’re travel ready!

Accessorizing Your Dress

Accessorizing Your Dress

It’s time to talk accessories!  This might be my favorite part!

I found three dresses that have similar elements of my own dress and accessorized them.  I kept the accessories the same (earrings, bracelet, clutch and shoes) so that you can focus on the difference they make between looks.  Don’t forget that your hair is an accessory too!  And probably your most important one!

The first look has a sophisticated hairstyle because the dress is very simple.  I chose simple jewelry that feels very regal.  Nothing too showy but also still fancy.

The second look is more of a Grecian inspired look.  I chose the longer earrings with the longer hair, a simpler shoe to peek out the bottom of the dress and a deco looking clutch.

The last look has a sweeter feel.  Because of the rhinestones on the dress, I put the more romantic inspired hairstyle with it.  I also added the all over sparkle shoes and clutch but kept the accessories simple.

Three different looks with very similar dresses.  I hope you have fun with your accessories!

Falling in Love with Fall #3

Falling in Love with Fall #3

This is a total repeat from spring but is still talk worthy.  Every few seasons shoes go through rotation on what is in and what is out.  And this fall, the pointy heel is back in.

Does this mean you should get rid of all of your round-toed platform pumps?  Don’t be ridiculous.  This just means while the pointy toed heels may have been in the back of the closet for a while, the good old classic staple is now a front-runner.

These heels will always look smart and sassy when paired with workwear.  They say  “take me seriously” in a way a sandal or a platform never could. So when you have a big presentation to make, let the pointy-toed heel be your first choice.
